“First we plant it, then we wait for it to grow, then we eat it!”[David, second grader and Edible Schoolyard NYC Student]

Located on a half acre of land that was previously a parking lot at the Arturo Toscanini Elementary school in Brooklyn, the Edible Schoolyard NYC helps children form and grow healthy relationships with food & nature.  Established in 2010, the ESYNY at P.S.216  is the northeast location for the model created by chef Alice Waters in Berkeley, California in 1995. The program began as a means to connect children to the environment in a hands-on and educational manner. Today the Edible Schoolyard NYC and the children of P.S 216 tend to and harvest more than 60 varieties of fruits and vegetables, and counting…..

Half of all profits in our store during the months of February, March & April will go to support the Edible Schoolyard NYC and the healthy life habits they are cultivating for children. As they say at the ESYNY, let’s grow!
