Jewelry creator Adina Mills answers a few questions for us about her approach to jewelry making and provides a glimpse into her world.
t&b-Inspiration vs. Perspiration..what’s your percentage?
ADINA: “I’d have to say 80% inspiration and 20% perspiration… My inspiration button is pretty much always turned and I just can’t help taking in everything around me! So, once the ideas settle in I know that I’ve already got my construction method down pat so i bust out and go to town creating!”
t&b: where do you live and why?
ADINA:”Although my home base is Los Angeles, for the past year an a half I have been residing in an awesome retro 1977 ‘Journey’ motorhome, traveling through the U.S.! I set out on this ‘journey’ to experience living a little bit freer, to focus on my art wholeheartedly, and to expand my business throughout the U.S. grassroots style. I’m lucky to have a partner in crime who has enabled this expedition and supports and loves me and my work!”
t&b: other than home, what is your favorite place?
ADINA: “My favorite place can be anywhere as long as I’m surrounded by my friends and loved ones who bring amazing energy and fulfillment into my life. (I know it’s so cheeseball but it’s true!) (if you want a more physical place though, i’d say sitting in a chairlift getting ready to snowboard!)”
t&b: what would you or do you love to hear people say about your jewelry?
ADINA: “My favorite thing to hear about my jewelry is that it is so unique and that they have never seen anything like it before. It’s NEVER redundant and it makes me smile from within every single time!!”
t&b: if not a jewelry designer-what other career would you like to have?
ADINA: “Working with animals or children…”
t&b: do you have any causes that are near and dear to you?
ADINA: ”Animal rescue! I have two rescued dogs and have volunteered in several rescue organizations.”
t&b: you are such a prolific designer…which make us wonder with each piece being one of a kind-how many pieces of jewelry do you have designed and made right now?
ADINA: “Right now I would say I have about two hundred finished pieces in my cases, and probaly another fifty on deck. I am constantly creating! I love it so much!!”
